The en suite shower room had very good fittings including an excellent sized shower cubicle but to describe the space remaining involves swinging of cats and being a contortionist, there was very little room left around the fittings. Possibly we got the midget ensuite, the bed room was of excellent size

Friendly but largely unprofessional staff. Bathroom full of flies - had not been cleaned prior to my occupation. suspect that the room had been unoccupied for some time. Bathroom condition very poor and needed complete refurbishment. there were no other people staying on my first night and I suspect that I was given the lowest standard. good management would have upgraded. Public areas are adequate and enhanced by the historic quality of the building. Considerable building/refurbishment is needed to the upper floors and bedrooms/bathroom facilties. The layout of the stairs/corridors needs changing and a lift should be added to this class of establishment. The hotel is privately managed owned and this reflects in the way it is run, On my second night we were a group of 4 VIP business guests and between us we made up 80% of the hotel occupancy on what should have been a busy Friday night. I spent some time appologising for the hotel. Unfortunately we were fully occupied with business for most of our short stay and had no time to advise the hotel of our disappointment. I also did not want to make a "scene" in front of my guests. The bill of over £600 for our stay was more than double what this level of service should have cost.

Recptionist was friendly
1. No internet...and rubbish explanation (prevent down-loading of movies) 2. digital TV signal was breaking up 3. room access was disorganised: a) staff could not find room key (room 416), because the paperclip holding it to the heavy fob failed. b) we returned late (ish), and the staff had difficulties using the registration system to check our room number - took 3 of them eventually to operation the computer. 4. Room was poorly decorated, and over a noisy air-treatment plant.
